The Paläontologische Zeitschrift (today: PalZ) is the society's scientific journal. It was founded in 1913 and is being published on a regular basis since 1914, first with 2-3 issues per year, since 1927/1928 with 4 issues annually.

The journal publishes scientific contributions in paleontology. While the articles used to be in German, English, and French, the preferred language today is English. Since 2009, the journal is published by the Springer Verlag. It is on the ISI Index of Science.
